How to Prepare Your Parking Lot for Winter
Wisconsin winters are harsh and unpredictable. While snow can be beautiful and provide hours of entertainment, snow also brings ice, sleet, and potential hazards to your parking lot. To keep your employees and customers safe, it is incredibly important to have a solid plan in place and do as much as you can to prevent ice from building up on your parking lot. Here are a few tips on preparing for winter weather!
Schedule any major repairs in early fall.
If you have large cracks or potholes in your parking lot, they can fill with water and freeze, causing large patches of ice putting you and your clients at risk of a serious fall. Having these filled in prior to winter will make it easier to fight ice and snow!
Sealcoat if needed.
If your lot is ready for a fresh layer of sealcoating, schedule the appointment before temperatures begin to drop. Sealcoating will protect your asphalt from the salt, moisture, and other potential hazards.
Fix any drainage issues.
If you notice any pooling or back ups throughout the year it is extremely important to evaluate and repair the problem before temperatures get below freezing to prevent the pools of melted snow from turning to ice.
Have a plowing contract.
A plowing contract means that you don’t have to worry about how the snow will be removed from your parking lot. Our team will be there to clear out all of the snow so that your guests are able to get to you without any issues!
